Slice of Life: Googie Diamamonds

As the fascination with MCM/Midcentury/Googie style becomes more and more mainstream, people should realize that Chicago is a treasure trove of architectural delight for these people.  Like many other cities, Chicago has lots of single family homes, and small apartment complexes with MCM pedigrees.  But unlike most cities, Chicago also has skyscrapers with googie details.  These diamonds, for example, run up three sides of Saint Joseph Hospital in Lincoln Park.  Design-wise, the whole building shrieks “1950′s TV soap opera.”  In a good way.
